Setting Up Static IP

When any server is configured, it is highly recommended to set that server to a static IP. While server's rarely renew their IP address, when the IP does renew such as during a power outage, updates, or just regular maintenance, communication issues with the server will begin to show. Services, other servers, or client devices can lose their communication with stated server and may have to be reconfigured to the new IP especially if a DNS server has not been configured.

Location to set Static IP

Control Panel

   Network and Sharing Center

       Change Adapter Settings

Click on the Currently used Network Connection

               Select Properties

                   Double Click (TCP/IPv4)

                       Set the IP

*NOTE* remember to select OK and the network VLAN subnet matches the subnet you set the IP to. It may take a minute or two to connect back to the server.
